The Functional Layers are the outer layers of the film and are what “carry” almost all of the film’s attributes and characteristics, such as: sealing, sliding, static charge dissipation, barrier, etc.

The Structural Layer is responsible for the mechanical characteristics, such as mechanical resistance, rigidity, barrier and film thickness/grammage.
