Phase 1: Extrusion and Flat Film Formation
Raw materials are melted in heat extruders. The product is homogenized, filtered and extruded through a flat die onto a chilled mirror cylinder to form a thick (between 0.75 and 2.5 mm thick) flat film.
Phase 2: Longitudinal stretching
The end product of phase 1 is heated, stretched, resulting in the orientation of the polypropylene chains in the machine direction (longitudinal), and subjected to thermal stabilization.
Phase 3: Cross Stretching and Coating
The product from phase 2 is conducted inside a heated oven and stretched, resulting in the orientation of the polypropylene chains in the direction transverse to the machine direction. It is thermally stabilized and cooled to room temperature. The product is then coiled into machine rolls with a maximum width of 7300mm and a maximum diameter of 1200mm.
Phase 4: Metallization
After the product from phase 3 is placed in the unwinding chamber of the metallizing machine, it is vacuumed by the pump system. Once the processing pressure is reached, the bioriented polypropylene film to be metallized is transported by the unwinder to the aluminum deposition chamber where a continuous aluminum wire feeds the sintered ceramic barrels and is evaporated onto the film film. The aluminum atoms, thus released in cloud form, are deposited on the moving base film forming a very thin, continuous layer of aluminum. The structure and thickness of the layer depend on the evaporation rate, film speed and vacuum conditions. The bioriented polypropylene film is then wound with an adjustable tension on the rewinder. After the film metallization is complete, the vacuum chambers are depressurized to exchange the metallized reel for a new reel to be metallized. Given the very low thickness of the aluminum layer, there is no measurable increase in film weight at this stage.
Step 5: Finishing (slitting) the bioriented polypropylene film
The bioriented polypropylene film from phases 3 and 4 is cut into reels in the format specified by the customer. It is then packed with protective materials according to the packaging and packing specifications for shipment.
